The beginning of the beginning.
The moment I tried generative AI for the first time was the moment I knew it would become the greatest passion of my adult life.
It was around February of 2022, way before ChatGPT was a thing. I had gotten early access to something called Midjourney. Describe an idea, get an image of it.
I was dumbstruck. Blown away.
Sure. The character had seven fingers, and the face would have made Frankenstein’s monster flinch.
But what I saw was the potential.
Here we had a tool that could take an idea and wield that idea into existence from nothing but bits and data.
That’s me, by the way. The magazine doesn’t exist.

In May 2025, I made my first AI-generated video. That same feeling, all over again.
Now Google DeepMind’s Project Genie is experimenting with worlds you can move through. I started by asking for a picture. Now we can ask what’s around the corner.
